1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let a site remember things between page loads and visits - for example, that you're signed in. We use cookies sparingly: only what's needed to run What's New LA and to remember your preferences. This policy supplements our Privacy Policy.
2. Cookies we use
| Cookie | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
Supabase auth cookies | Essential | Keeps you signed in through the Supabase Auth session; httpOnly so client-side scripts can't read it. | Session / refresh window |
OAuth state cookie | Essential | A security token created during Spotify sign-in to protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) on the login flow. | Short-lived (cleared after sign-in completes) |
Theme / preference cookie | Functional | Remembers your display preference (such as theme) so the site looks the way you set it. | Persistent |
3. What we don't use
At this time, What's New LA does not use third-party advertising cookies or analytics-tracking cookies. We don't sell your data, and we don't run cross-site ad trackers. If this changes, we'll update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent.
4. How to control cookies
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or clear cookies for specific sites or all sites. Search your browser's help for "cookies" to find the controls.
Please note: the Supabase auth cookies and Spotify OAuth state cookies are essential. If you block or delete them, you won't be able to sign in or stay logged in, and the social and personalized features won't work. Blocking the functional theme/preference cookie simply means the site won't remember your display preference.
5. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as the service evolves. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above when we do.
