1. The spirit
What's New LA is a community of people who love Los Angeles and want to find - and share - the best concerts, shows, sports, and events around the city. Profiles, comments, and event submissions are public, which means what you post helps (or hurts) everyone else's experience. The goal is simple: be the kind of person you'd want sitting next to you at the show. These guidelines apply alongside our Terms of Service.
2. Do
- Be respectful. Disagree about a band or a venue, sure - but keep it civil.
- Stay on topic. Comments are most useful when they're about the event, the artist, or the experience.
- Be helpful. Share parking tips, set times, what to expect, or a heads-up about a date change.
- Submit accurate events. Double-check dates, times, venues, and ticket links before you submit.
- Credit and verify. If you're sharing event info, point people to the official source so they can confirm.
3. Don't
- Harass or bully. No personal attacks, threats, or targeted pile-ons.
- Post hate speech. No content that demeans people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar.
- Threaten violence. Threats and incitement aren't welcome and may be reported to authorities.
- Spam or abuse self-promotion. No repetitive posts, scams, or flooding comments with promo links.
- Post illegal content. Nothing unlawful, infringing, or that facilitates illegal activity.
- Impersonate. Don't pose as another person, artist, venue, or brand.
- Dox. Don't share anyone's private information without consent.
- Post NSFW content. No sexually explicit or graphic material.
- Spread event misinformation. Don't knowingly post false dates, fake lineups, bogus ticket links, or misleading event details.
4. Event submissions
Event submissions are a community contribution, and accuracy matters because other people make plans around them. Submit real events with correct details, and link to the official ticketer or venue page where possible. We may review, edit, enrich, reject, or remove submissions - see our Terms for details. Don't use submissions to advertise unrelated products or services.
5. How we enforce
We rely on both community reports and our own review to keep things healthy. Depending on the severity and history, we may:
- Remove or soft-delete a comment, submission, or profile content;
- let you block another user so you don't see their content;
- have an admin review reported content and take action;
- suspend or terminate accounts for repeat or severe violations.
We aim to be fair and proportionate, but serious violations - like threats, doxxing, or illegal content - can result in immediate removal and a ban.
6. How to report
If you see something that breaks these guidelines, use the in-app Report action on the comment, profile, or submission. Reports go to our moderation queue for admin review. For anything urgent or that the Report action doesn't cover, email us at privacy@whatsnewla.com. You can also block a user at any time to stop seeing their content.
7. Appeals
If we removed your content or actioned your account and you think we got it wrong, you can appeal by emailing privacy@whatsnewla.com with the details. We'll take another look. We can't promise to reverse every decision, but we read appeals and try to correct genuine mistakes.
